What are Pennsylvanias Dog Laws? All dogs must be licensed when you buy or adopt them (earliest is 8 weeks old) or 3 months of age, whichever comes first, by Jan. 1 of each year. Licenses are issued by the County Treasurer.
To obtain a lifetime license, your dog must be microchipped, and you must submit with your application a Permanent Identification Verification (PIV) form completed and signed by your veterinarian or kennel. You should receive this form when the dog is microchipped.
How long does it typically take before I receive my dog license? - Licenses are sent through postal mail and should arrive within 10 business days. The charge will be posted to your credit card at time of registration.
An annual license is $8.70 ($6.70 for a Senior Citizen or Person with a Disability). Please note there is no longer a discount for Spayed or Neutered dogs. See Annual Dog License Application listed below.
