Your WSIB account will be active within three to five business days of registering for WSIB coverage. Once your registration is complete, well email you the details and send you a welcome package with your account information.
WSIB will pursue full recovery of a benefit-related debt in the following situations: WSIB has paid benefits for a time period for which you also received earnings from employment. You experience a material change in circumstances that affects your entitlement to benefits or services from WSIB.
Owners (partners, sole proprietors, independent operators and executive officers) can apply for WSIB coverage for themselves, as long as they have coverage for any employees they may have (the process is the same whether theyre required to have coverage, or they choose to have it).
There are a few exceptions. Types of businesses that are not legally required to register with the WSIB include banks, insurance companies, barbers or hair salons (with exceptions), private schools or daycares, travel agencies, and several others.
