How do you read an audiogram bone conduction?

The air conduction results for the right ear are marked with a red \u201cO," and the results for the left ear are marked with a blue \u201cX." Bone conduction testing, in which a device is placed behind the ear in order to transmit sound through the vibration of the mastoid bone, is marked with a \u201c[\u201c or a \u201c<\u201d symbol.

What does conductive hearing loss look like on an audiogram?

Air conduction hearing thresholds for the right ear (ie. The softest sounds the right ear can hear at each frequency) are marked as an \u201cO\u201d and the left hearing thresholds are marked as an \u201cX\u201d on the audiogram. Bone conduction thresholds are marked on the audiogram as P (better ear), [(right ear) or] (left ear).

How do you read audiology test results?

The results of the hearing test are an indication for the degrees of hearing loss: Normal hearing: -10 to 20 dB. Mild hearing loss: 20 to 40 dB higher than normal. Moderate hearing loss: 40 to 70 dB higher than normal. Severe hearing loss: 70 to 90 dB higher than normal. Profound loss: 90 dB or more.

What is normal air conduction and bone conduction?

Air conduction uses the apparatus of the ear (pinna, ear canal, tympanic membrane, and ossicles) to amplify and direct the sound. Bone conduction allows the vibration sound to be transmitted to the inner ear. The ear bones transmit reduced volume audition via the bones of the skull to the other ear.
