8. 100 Percent Disabled Veterans and Widows/Widowers of active duty/retired military personnel. Although entitled to other privileges such as MWR, Exchange, Commissary, etc., these individuals do not have Space-Available travel privileges.
There are six categories (CAT-I thru CAT-VI). CAT-I is highest priority (first to get offered a Space-A seat) and CAT VI is the lowest Category (last to get offered a Space-A seat after CAT I thru CAT V). A GENERIC explanation of each category is: CAT I: Emergency Leave Unfunded Travel.
However, once the retirement age of 60 is docHubed and member is receiving retirement pay, no distinction is made between members retired from the Reserves/Guard and members retired from active duty. Dependents of these retirees are authorized to travel Space-A when accompanied by the sponsor.

People also ask

What Are Space-A Flights (AKA, Military Hops)? After military flights accommodate all required passengers and cargo, they often release extra seats to service members, retirees and their families. These eligible passengers can hop on the flights on a space-available (Space-A) basis.
Space-A travel must be complete by the last day of the military members deployment. Dependents will be authorized to travel Space-A in Category IV. If the Service member is deployed for more than 365 days they will be placed at the bottom of the category III list.
Active duty military may travel on a pass in the CONUS and selected overseas areas but may only remain on the Space Available register for 72 hours. Passengers authorized (in writing) for a special 96-hour pass will remain on the list for 96 hours.
Retired active Service members are eligible for Space-A travel. Family members (with a valid identification card) of retired Service members are eligible when accompanied by a sponsor. Retired Service members are not eligible for Space-Required travel. Reservations will not be made for any Space-A passenger.
Many disabled veterans are eligible to fly Space-A on military aircraft. The 2019 National Defense Authorization Act allows veterans who are rated as permanently and totally disabled by the Department of Veterans Affairs to travel space available on military aircraft.
