Most financial aid applicants will be required to submit their application forms through IDOC, the College Boards Institutional Documentation Service. Many schools use IDOC to collect financial aid applications, so by submitting your forms to IDOC, you can apply for financial aid at several schools all at once.
Since failure to complete the non-custodial parents part of an aid application may result in the student losing institutional financial aid dollars, colleges that require non-custodial parent information typically have a process by which the student can request that the requirement be waived.
IDOC is an acronym for the Institutional Documentation Service, and its function is to collect financial forms, including tax returns, W-2s, and 1099s, from families applying for financial aid. IDOC is only used by colleges that require the CSS Profile, and only some of those schools actually use the service.
Not all students will submit documentation through IDOC. If you need to submit documents, College Board will email you and you can log in at that time.
If youre in the thick of the college financial aid process, you may be required to submit your financial forms via IDOC, a document collection service used by colleges and universities across the country.

You will need your (and if applicable, your parent(s)) most recently completed Federal Tax returns (and all schedules), W-2 forms and other records of current year income, records of untaxed income and benefits, assets, and bank statements.
After submitting the CSS Profile, IDOC allows for secure electronic upload, transmission, and submission of supporting financial aid documents and materials (federal income tax returns and schedules, W-2s, 1099 forms, etc.).
