The SRS-2 is a respondent-based measure of the severity of social deficits and symptoms related to autism spectrum disorder. The SRS- 2 scores are standardized by comparing characteristics of a large sample population of people diagnosed with ASD, grouped by age and gender.
Like the original SRS, the SRS-2 comprises five subscales based on diagnostic criteria for ASD: social motivation; social awareness; social cognition; social communication; and restricted interests and repetitive behaviour.
The SCQ has 40 items and is appropriate for both verbal and non-verbal children. Total scores range from 0 to 39 with higher scores representing more social communication impairment. The sensitivity and specificity of the SCQ is maximized at lower cut offs when used with younger children (Wiggins et al.
The Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS) is an instrument measuring the continuum of autism symptom severity and has been used most frequently with children and adolescents between the ages of 4 and 18 years (Bölte, Poustka, & Constantino, 2008; Constantino & Gruber, 2005).
The SRS-2 offers four forms, each with 65 items, and each for a specific age group: School-Age Form: For ages 4 through 18, completed by parent or teacher. Preschool Form: For ages 2½ to 4½, completed by parent or teacher. Adult Form: For ages 19 and up, completed by a relative or friend.

The SRS is a 15-minute questionnaire that measures the severity of autistic social impairment across the entire range of the autism spectrum, from nonexistent to severe.
A total composite score between 60 and 65 is associated with mild to moderate deficits in social interaction. Scores between 66 and 75 are considered to display a moderate deficit in social interaction, and a score greater than 76 is considered severe and strongly associated with the clinical diagnosis of ASD.
The raw scores of each domain are combined with their total converted into the SRS-2 Total T-score. The SCI score is calculated by combining raw scores from the AWR, COG, COMM and MOT and converting the total into the SCI T-score.
SRS was originally developed by Constantino & Todd, 2003 (7), and revised by Constantino and Gruber, 2012 (8).
