What to include in an appeal letter Your professional contact information. A summary of the situation youre appealing. An explanation of why you feel the decision was incorrect. A request for the preferred solution youd like to see enacted. Gratitude for considering your appeal. Supporting documents attached, if relevant.
27-Feb-2025. An appeal is a legal process in which a party requests a higher court to review and change the decision of a lower court. In the Indian judicial system, appeals are a fundamental right, allowing individuals to seek redress if they believe a legal error affected the judgment.
Appeals are decided by panels of three judges working together. The appellant presents legal arguments to the panel, in writing, in a document called a brief. In the brief, the appellant tries to persuade the judges that the trial court made an error, and that its decision should be reversed.
The formal definition of appeal is an application to a higher court to reverse the decision of a lower court. You appeal when you are dissatisfied with the result of a trial to which you were a party, and you ask a higher court to reconsider the result.
