HOPE Scholarship recipients must have a cumulative 3.0 HOPE GPA at the end of each spring semester to continue eligibility. In addition to these requirements traditional and nontraditional students must have a 3.0 cumulative HOPE GPA after the 30th, 60th and 90th attempted hour.
The Governors Merit Scholarship currently awards the top 5% of each high school graduating class a $5,000 scholarship each year to attend an Ohio college or university. The Senates version of the budget would reduce it to the top 2% of each high school starting with the 2027 fiscal year.
HOPE Scholarship requires a minimum 3.0 calculated HOPE GPA at each Checkpoint to maintain eligibility. Checkpoint at the end of every Spring term when the scholarship is received any term during the aid year.
The Spring Manufacturers Institute has established a scholarship program to assist member company employees and their dependent children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for study at an accredited institution of the students choice.
The National College Scholarship Program offers educational funding to young adult cancer survivors and young adults affected by the diagnosis or loss of a parent to cancer.

A student will lose the HOPE Scholarship if their GPA is below the minimum requirement at one of the checkpoints and may only regain the scholarship one time. A student is ineligible to receive HOPE Scholarship funds once the student has docHubed the 127 hour limit.
