To support these groups at this critical time of their lives, the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has implemented seven pilot programs providing guaranteed income to about 2,000 people. Participants receive $600 to $1,200 monthly for 12 to 18 months, with no conditions or requirements.
About the Promise Pilot Program The Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot provides unconditional $500 monthly cash payments to 3,250 low-to-moderate income families in Cook County for a period of two years.
Who is eligible? Residence: Eligible participants must have a residential address in the zip codes of either 93706 (southwest Fresno) or 93234 (Huron). Children 0 to 5: Eligible participants must be adults who are either pregnant or have one or more young children between the ages of 0 to 5.
The Cook County Promise Guaranteed Income Pilot is a pilot program being conducted by the Cook County Government and the Bureau of Economic Development. A total of 3,250 low-income households will receive $500 a month for 24 months to provide additional economic stability due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
