Can you transfer without IGETC?
Students who do not complete IGETC before transferring will be required to satisfy the lower-division general education/breadth requirements of the UC college or school they attend. However, California community colleges may grant partial certification of IGETC to students who are missing no more than two requirements.
Is IGETC the same as general education?
IGETC is a series of courses, certified by the California community colleges, that you complete in order to satisfy the freshman/sophomore-level general education requirements at UC. What are the requirements for IGETC for CSU?
INTERSEGMENTAL GENERAL EDUCATION TRANSFER CURRICULUM (IGETC) The IGETC pattern requires completion of a minimum of 37 semester/49 quarter units of lower division work with a C grade or better in each course (C- is not allowed).
IGETC satisfies the lower division GE for either a UC or CSU, whereas the CSU GE Breadth pattern only satisfies lower division GE at CSU. The CSU GE has additional requirements that transfer specialists can describe.
