Program Benefits As a McNair Scholar, you will be part of a highly-prestigious program known for academic excellence. Receive financial support. McNair Scholars receive stipends during the Summer Research Fellowship. Receive free housing and meals during the Summer Research Fellowship.

Who is eligible for the McNair program?

Eligibility. Students who qualify for McNair must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at an eligible institution. In all projects, at least two-thirds of the participants must be low-income, potential first-generation college students.

How competitive is the McNair Scholars program?

Admission to the McNair Scholars Program is competitive, but applicants are encouraged to contact the McNair staff to discuss special circumstances. McNair Scholars must have a satisfactory GPA and 60 or more credits by the end of the spring semester.

How much is the McNair program stipend?

The McNair Scholars program is a highly-selective research and graduate school preparatory program. The program does, however, provide a $2,800 stipend.
