If you need to print a P45 and do not have P45 stationery from HMRC, you can do so using the P45 PDF production option. This is under Payroll, Processing, P45 PDF Production. This creates a three page P45 which can be printed on blank A4 paper and is in a HMRC approved format.
Forms must be printed on 8.5 x 11-inch single-sheet paper only. There must be two Forms W-2 (Copy A) printed on a page. There must be no horizontal perforations between the two Forms W-2 (Copy A) on each page.
There are two PAYE forms in particular that youll come across quite often, and you may recognise them from life as an employee. These are the P60 and P45. The P45 is used when employees change jobs and the P60 is used to summarise the employees tax information at the end of the tax year.
You cannot get a replacement P45. Instead, your new employer may give you a starter checklist or ask you for the relevant details about your finances to send to HM Revenue and Customs ( HMRC ).
In the United Kingdom, and formerly in Ireland, a P45 is the reference code of a document titled Details of employee leaving work. The term is used in British and Irish slang as a metonym for termination of employment. The equivalent slang term in the United States is pink slip.
