The announcement explains that FAFSAs were reprocessed (Reason Code 12) when assets for a student (or their contributors) were collected by the FAFSA form and used in the Student Aid Index (SAI) calculation, even when they met criteria under the law for an exemption from reporting assets.

You need to make satisfactory academic progress in college or career school in order to keep getting federal student aid. Talk to your school about whether you can appeal the decision that made you ineligible to continue receiving federal student aid.

Why would my FAFSA need to be reprocessed?

During reprocessing, the FPS identifies FAFSA records with incorrect data, corrects the most recent transaction, and then processes the recordcreating a new transaction. This transaction contains information to identify it has been reprocessed.

What is the reprocessing reason code 12?

Reprocessing Reason Code 12 Affects records where assets were incorrectly included in the SAI calculation despite qualifying for an exemption. 21,660 records reprocessed; 21 remain incomplete and require corrections. Students or institutions must provide missing data to calculate the SAI for the 21 incomplete files.

What is the reprocessed code 07?

Records reprocessed because of issues with the school list order will include the 07 code described as Correct Federal School Code (FSC) order. We have added the code and description to the Identifying Reprocessed ISIRs section below.
