For-profit organizations, state and local governments and other federal agencies may be eligible to apply, depending upon the specific funding opportunity.
These grants support individuals in academia who do not have other substantial sources of research funding. Applicants will be judged on the scientific merit of the proposed research and on the degree of financial need. Funds must be used to conduct the proposed research.
Eligible organizations are NSF recipients that are public or private colleges or universities or non-profit organizations whose primary purpose is the conduct of research or science education activities.
Eligibility. Applicants must be citizens, nationals or permanent residents of the United States. Applicants must be pursuing full-time research-based masters and doctoral degrees in STEM or in STEM education at accredited U.S. institutions.
