Thesis Supervision Committee. Each student will be supervised by a Thesis Supervision Committee (TSC) which consists of at least two members: the thesis supervisor and the committee chair. For MPhil students, the TSC is normally formed within their first year of study.

Probably less than 23%, if that, fail the actual defense. If you are going to wash out of the PhD program, it will probably be around year three, not at the final defense. Mind you, in some fields, about 40% of Ph. D.

The thesis examination panel is the body entrusted with evaluating the thesis and, therefore, with awarding the doctoral students their final qualifications. The panel that evaluates the doctoral thesis must consist of three full members and three substitutes, all experts in the field.
