What is an I-20 or DS-2019? The I-20 is the document F-1 students need from The New School in order to apply for the F-1 student visa; the DS-2019 is the document J-1 students need in order to apply for the J-1 student visa.
To qualify for an I-20 or DS-2019 you must: be admitted to a full-time program of study (and maintain full-time enrollment every term) document the financial resources to cover tuition, fees and living expenses of the first academic year and have a plan to finance any additional time.
The Department of Homeland Security will collect the processing fee for those students who wish the United States as a student or exchange visitor with a Form I-20 or DS-019 dated on or after June 24, 2019.
