Every piece of fall arrest equipment should be inspected and certified at least yearly or more often by a trained and competent person.
OSHA states in the regulations that a, Pre use Inspection (by the user or Authorized Person) of fall protection equipment is required before each use. This means that each time fall protection is taken out on a job site, the user of that equipment must do a self-inspection before donning in it.
Each employee 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above dangerous equipment shall be protected from fall hazards by guardrail systems, personal fall arrest systems, or safety net systems.
According to OSHA guidelines, fall protection equipment must undergo an annual inspection. Depending on your equipment and working conditions, you may need inspections more often.
