Beginning on March 19, 2021, lenders are no longer expected to submit VA Form 26-8937 to VA when the COE already lists the information the lender is seeking to verify. If the COE already lists the information the lender is seeking to verify, VA will not process the VA Form 26-8937 if it is submitted by the lender.

Is the VA federal collection policy notice still required?

VA has consolidated VA Form 26-1802a and VA Form 26-0503, Federal Collection Policy Notice, into the new VA Form 26-1820. Use of the new VA Form 26-1820 is required for loans with application dates on or after February 1, 2023.

Is VA form 26 8937 still required?

To request a COE by mail, fill out a Request for a Certificate of Eligibility (VA Form 26-1880) and mail it to the address for your regional loan center. You can find the address on the last page of the form. Please note that mail requests may take longer than requesting a COE online or through your lender.

Does VA still require the nearest living relative?

The Department of Veterans Affairs requires all VA borrowers to provide the lender with the name, address and phone number of their nearest living relative.
