Available Scholarships. The Russell M. Nelson Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship offered at BYU.
Scholarships are awarded annually in amounts equal to half or full LDS tuition. The scholarship recipients will be asked to replenish the fund once they are in a financial position to do so. To be considered, both the cumulative and BYU GPA must be at least 3.0 by the end of fall semester.
Notifications are sent to all applicants who submitted a scholarship application by the appropriate deadline, whether they are awarded a scholarship or not. Notifications are sent electronically through your BYU email address.
Deferring admission and scholarships is done in one easy step. You may defer fall/winter scholarships to serve a mission. Spring/summer scholarships are non-deferrable. A leave of absence may be taken directly prior to a missionary deferment.
Each semester, any student who achieves a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher will be placed on the deans list and considered for a $500 scholarship for the subsequent semester. This is also for students who have another scholarship or participate in the IWORK or Hukilau programs. Applications are not necessary.
