The Bournemouth Questionnaire (BQ) is a comprehensive multi-dimensional core outcome tool assessing. patients outcome of care in a routine clinical setting. It was developed at the Anglo-European College of. Chiropractic (AECC) in Bournemouth by Professors Jennifer Bolton, and Alan Breen.
The Neck Bournemouth Questionnaire is used mainly for comparative purposes. The first step is to obtain a Baseline Score which is best done on the day of the initial examination. This is done by summing up the 7 individual scores (total maximum score = 70). This score is then later compared with Subsequent Scores.
Bolton et al (2004) indicated that an improvement of 13 points on the total score or a percentage change score of 36% was associated with clinically docHub improvement.
Standard procedure is to take scale scores from such a matrix by summing the responses to the questions or to one or more subsets thereof and by subsequently standardizing or otherwise transforming these sums.
The test can be interpreted as a raw score, with a maximum score of 50, or as a percentage. 0 points or 0% means : no activity limitations , 50 points or 100% means complete activity limitation. A higher score indicates more patient-rated disability.
