A peer mentor is an employee who acts as a mentor for another employee at the same level of the organization. Examples of peer mentoring include: New hires being accompanied by experienced employees who are in the same department as part of the onboarding process.
Peer Mentors assist first and second semester students with their academic adjustment and personal acclimation to UTSA. They build connections with students by arranging individual meetings and participating in interactive group events and topical discussions.
Peer mentors are individuals who have gone through similar experiences and have successfully navigated the challenges that their mentees are currently facing. They offer a unique perspective that traditional mentors may not have, as they can relate on a more personal level.
