Adding a Minor After being admitted to UTSA and registered for classes, students can meet with their assigned academic advisor to discuss the addition of a minor to their degree plan. Please note, students can add a minor as long as they have earned less than 75 credit hours.
UTSA is Tier One The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education designated UTSA as an R1 institution, placing us among the top 4% of research universities in the nation.
Students may change their program of study, including majors, minors, concentrations, and degree type, up to the completion of 75 semester credit hours earned (not including dual credit, Advanced Placement (AP) credit, or other college credits earned while in high school).
To declare a minor, a student must file a Change of Major or Degree Information form with their academic advisor. Students may not formally minor in more than two fields. Descriptions of minor requirements are included in the Colleges sections of this catalog.
A no-cost extension provides the Principal Investigator (PI) with additional time to complete the scope and objectives of the sponsored program without additional funds being provided by the funding agency. Requests may not be made for the sole purpose of spending remaining funds.
