The ASTRO/ARRO Global Health Scholars (GHS) program was formally launched in 2011. It provides a scholarship stipend of $2,500 for four residents: Allowing senior residents interested in global health to work on a resident-designed clinical, outreach/educational or research project in a developing nation.
Each year Global provides a scholarship of $2,500 to two outstanding students who represent and uphold the values of Global. Students with a history of dedicated service to their community, extracurricular involvement, and high academic achievement should apply. Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
Graduates of the Global Health Certificate can expect to find employment in a variety of fields including health- related governmental/non-governmental organizations, university research programs, international healthcare consultancies, and multinational corporations (Education Advisory Board, 2013).
Through fields ranging from health policy and analysis to epidemiology or primary care, careers in global health care are an intersection between international relations and medicine and have the potential to improve the lives of others both nationwide and internationally.
