Each elevator used or proposed to be used in Georgia must be thoroughly inspected regularly. The Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner is responsible for performing the inspections.
The Elevator Inspections Office within the Department of Permit and Inspection Services is responsible for inspection, permitting, issuance of certificates of operation and enforcement for compliance with all New York State Codes, specifically the ASME ANSI A17.
In California, inspections are required for elevators in multi-unit residential buildings prior to being placed in service or after alterations prior to being returned to service.
In ance with the Building Code, elevators in New York City are to be inspected and tested at least five times every two years. To implement this requirement, the Department requires elevators to be inspected at least three times every two years and tested at least once a year.
