The Log Book is a day to day record of all activities you did on your research project. It tells what was done, where it was done, and when it was done.

Is it illegal to use paper logs?

Although the ELD mandate covers the vast majority of truckers, there are exemptions that allow specific drivers to use a paper log. Here are the exemptions to consider: Eight days/month exemption. This applies to drivers who keep a record of duty status (RODS) for up to eight out of 30 days.

Can I use paper logs instead of ELD fmcsa?

As specified in the ELD rule, the following are not required to use ELDs (but carriers may choose to use ELDs even if they are not required): Drivers who use paper logs no more than 8 days during any 30-day period.

Can Hotshot drivers use paper logs?

If a driver exceeds short-haul exemption limits (e.g., working beyond 14 hours or driving outside the 150 air-mile radius), they must track Hours of Service using an ELD or maintain paper logs as required by FMCSA rules.

Can you use paper logs if an ELD is not working?

Yes. In the event that the driver experiences a malfunction that impairs the electronic logging device (ELD) ability to present the drivers previous 7 days, the driver may present their previous 7 days by way of any printed copy, or in an electronic form, such as a PDF.

Are paper log books still legal?

You must date every session, and record the time of the day for each important entry. The key is to document your actions in real time not to write polished or complete prose. Do not leave blank space to be filled in later when you have more time or think that youll understand it better.

What is logbook format?

A drivers daily log is a mandatory record for all commercial drivers with a few exceptions, which well explain later. Drivers must keep daily logs each day and should have 8 logs with them in the vehicle at all times.
