Can I take the CBEST for free?
Eligible California residents have the opportunity to take California educator examinations and performance assessments for free while funds remain. You must have a valid California mailing address to qualify for these examination/assessment fee waivers.
Can the CSET be taken online?
Online proctoring is available for Subtest I and Subtest III of this test. You may test remotely, including from home.
How to get the CBEST waived?
Applying for a CBEST Waiver If you need a CBEST waiver, the request (form WV1) must be submitted to the CTC by your employer. Before submitting a request to the CTC, your employer must inform their governing body of the request. The employer must provide your name and the position you will fill through the waiver.
How do I schedule the CSET test?
To schedule a test appointment, log in to your account at .ctcexams.nesinc.com and select schedule on the current registrations page for the test you wish to schedule.
The New CSET Waiver In July of 2021, the California AB 130 was signed into law, providing prospective California K-12 teachers with additional options for satisfying and demonstrating the Basic Skills Requirement and Subject Matter Competence.
How long do you have to wait to take the CSET?
If you have registered to take more than one subtest comprising a single test in a single testing session, you must wait 45 calendar days from the date of your test appointment to retake any of the subtests for which you registered, even if you did not attempt or complete all subtests for which you were registered.
Can anyone take the CBEST exam?
You may take the CBEST only if you have earned, at minimum, a high school diploma, a GED, or the equivalent or if you are, or have been, a student taking courses for college credit pursuant to a career in education. If you are uncertain about your eligibility to test, please contact the CTC for approval to test.
