A member with 5 years of credited service is eligible to apply for an Age and Service retirement annuity from ATRS by meeting one or more of the following requirements: 5-24 Years of service at age 60. 25 or more years of service at any age*
Am I eligible to retire? In order to retire, you must meet one or more of the following requirements: Members at or over age 60 and have five (5) or more years of actual and reciprocal service credit.
Teachers are eligible for full retirement after completing 30 years of creditable service. They can also retire at age 65 with five years of service credit or at age 55 with at least five years of service credit and meets the Rule of 80 (combined age and years of service credit total at least 80.)
Upon reaching eligibility for retirement, a member receives a lifetime, monthly annuity from ATRS that is calculated based on their option selection.
A member with 5 years of credited service is considered vested and is eligible to apply for an Age and Service retirement annuity from ATRS if they meet eligibility requirements.
