The goal of the Fatherhood program is to encourage and support responsible fathering, increase fathers understanding of the importance of being involved with their children, and give fathers positive direction in involvement with their children.
The program works to improve father child bonding, co-parenting, economic stability and mobility.
The responsible fatherhood movement encourages fathers to be involved in their childrens lives and advocates for societal support of such involvement.
Fathers, like all parents, have a constitutional right under Alabama child custody law to a relationship with their child. Likewise minor children have a complementary fundamental right to free association with their parents, including their father.
Founded in 1994, National Fatherhood Initiative empowers communities and human service organizations to unlock the transformative power of involved fatherhood by championing city and statewide fatherhood initiatives and providing life-changing fatherhood programs, training, and comprehensive resources.
