How do I become a registered behavior technician in California?
The RBT® credential requires applicants to meet minimum age and education standards, obtain 40 hours of acceptable training, successfully complete a Competency Assessment, and a criminal background check then pass the RBT Exam.
How long can you be inactive as an RBT?
RBTs may request to be inactive for up to two years and are not be required to submit annual RBT Renewal Applications (including updated RBT Renewal Competency Assessment and fees) during this time.
Whats the passing score for RBT?
The RBT test is scored using a scaling system with a rating from 0 to 250. In order to pass this exam, you must score at least 200 on this scale. Since 75 of the 85 questions are counted toward this score, that means you must answer 60 questions correctly in order to pass.
What happens if my RBT expires?
If your expiration date is more than one year ago, your certification is revoked and cannot be renewed. You will have to take and pass an exam in order to be eligible to be a certified operator again.
How many questions are on the RBT exam?
The RBT certification examination comprises 85 multiple-choice questions, 10 of which are unscored pilot items. Each question has 4 possible answers. Candidates have 90 minutes to complete the examination.
What is the RBT Certification? The Registered Behaviour Technician® (RBT®) is a paraprofessional certification in behaviour analysis. RBTs assist in delivering behavior analysis services and practice under the direction and close supervision of an RBT Supervisor who is responsible for all work RBTs perform.
How many points is the RBT exam?
The duties are detailed in the RBT Task List. The training you've received is based on the task list, so you should be familiar with the concepts and expectations. You'll have 90 minutes to complete the exam. There are 85 computer-based questions on the RBT exam, 75 of which make up your final score.
Do you have to renew your RBT?
Per the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), your RBT certificate must be renewed every year. The expiration date of your certificate is one year from the day you passed the RBT exam or the date you last renewed your certificate.
How often do you have to take the RBT exam?
You are only permitted eight attempts, however, within the one-year period that you are authorized to take the exam. If you do not pass the exam after eight tries but there is still time left on your 12-month authorization period, you must wait until the year is up and then reapply for certification.
