Once an RBT certification has expired, you will need to complete the entire application process again, including taking and passing the competency assessment.

How long is a RBT certificate good for?

The RBT certification thats issued by the BACB remains valid for one year. The only way that this is extended is through taking the exam again the following year. RBTs are required to keep up with their knowledge of their past training to get another extension, which also includes a competency assessment.

RBTs are granted a grace period of up to 30 days after the initial expiry date to complete the renewal process. Failure to renew within this grace period results in the certification expiring. Once the certification expires, the individual is no longer considered a certified RBT.
