Samples for strength tests of each class of concrete placed each day shall be taken not less than once a day, nor less than once for each 150 cubic yards of concrete, nor less than once for each 5000 square feet of surface area for slabs or walls.

Reseal with masking tape and ship directly to the laboratory. At the laboratory, specimens must be stored at 73F3F.
Samples should be taken as close to the point of placement as possible. Many times they are obtained at the point of discharge of the concrete from the mixer. Other points of sampling may be specified, such as the discharge of a concrete pump.
If water is added to the mixer to adjust the slump at the site of the work, sample after the water is added and the concrete is thoroughly mixed. Sample by repeatedly passing a receptacle through the entire discharge stream, or by diverting the stream completely so that the whole stream discharges into a container.
