Purpose of Address Canvassing This operation implements methods to improve and refine the U.S. Census Bureaus address list in advance of the 2020 Census. The Census Bureau needs the address and physical location of each living quarter in the United States and Puerto Rico to conduct and tabulate the census.
The 2010 Census shows that the U.S. population now exceeds 300 million. Although the pace of population growth has slowed compared with the 1990s, the in- crease in population from 2000 to 2010 was the third-largest in U.S. history. During the past decade, 27.3 million people were added to the U.S. population.
4.1 Where to access the censuses Images and indexes for all censuses from 1841 to 1921 are available on both Ancestry and Findmypast, and on a number of other commercial websites (charges apply). It is free to search on these sites, but there is a charge to view full search results and digitised images.
