You have to maintain a certain cumulative GPA to get federal financial aid. Undergraduate students (including teaching credential students) must maintain a cumulative institutional GPA of 2.00. Graduate students must maintain a cumulative institutional GPA of 3.00.

Does SAP status follow you to another school?

If you are not making satisfactory academic progress at one school, its not necessarily the case that it will follow you to another school. However, that being said, transferring from school to school is not a good answer to this problem.

Yes. The clock resets after any term where SAP is made, as the loss of the grant eligibility is based on consecutive terms. 3.

If you complete a degree and start a new degree, your SAP calculation will be reset and will restart the first semester of your new degree.

What happens to my loan if I switch schools?

If you borrowed student loans at your last school and were enrolled during the current award year, your previous loan will be included as part of your total loan eligibility, and that will reduce your borrowing eligibility at your new school.

Does SAP affect student loans?

If you fail to meet SAP standards, you will be placed on financial aid restriction. Students on financial aid restriction are not eligible to receive Federal, state, or institutional financial aid. However, you may be eligible to receive private (alternative) loans, which can be found here.

What is the SAP review for ASU?

A SAP review requires that the student meet with their academic advisor to develop an Academic Plan that, if successfully followed, will result in the student attaining the required standards for SAP. Failure to meet the terms of the Academic Plan may result in the loss of financial aid eligibility for future terms.
