Definition. Zonal Statistics is a significant concept in the geographical information system (GIS) analysis which is mainly used to compute the values of a raster within the zones of another dataset. Zonal operations are actually spatial operation that is based on geographic features (zones) defined by certain datasets
Zones defined between data centers The classic example and use case for zones is when you have two or more geographically dispersed data centers. Dispersed data centers spread your data grid over different locations for recovery from data center failure.
In ArcGIS Pro, navigate to the Analysis tab and click Tools. In the Geoprocessing pane, search for and select the Zonal Statistics as Table (Spatial Analyst) tool via the Find Tools search box. In the Zonal Statistics as Table pane, select the zone dataset from the Input Raster or Feature Zone Data drop-down list.
Zonal operations compute an output raster dataset where the output value for each location depends on the value of the cell at the location and the association that location has within a cartographic zone.
Zonal averaged data are also referred to as mean meridional profiles. The terminology zonal averaged, is to be interpreted as an average taken over 360 degrees of longitude for any given latitude zone. Mean zonal radiation budget profiles are presented as climate statistics for use in climate studies.

A zonal statistics operation is one that calculates statistics on cell values of a raster (a value raster) within the zones defined by another dataset. There are two tools that calculate statistics by zones, Zonal Statistics and Zonal Statistics as Table.
