The whole image is a symbol of charity, forgiveness and love of God, referred to as the Fountain of Mercy.
Faustina and Blessed Fr. Sopocko. It presently hangs in the Church of the Holy Trinity, the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Vilnius, Lithuania, having been faithfully restored to its original colors and contours with the support of the Marian Fathers and Helpers.
Jesus told St. Faustina that rays of mercy in the image represent blood and water, and as we pray in the Divine Mercy chaplet, they gush forth from Jesus as a fount of mercy for us. This fount is an inexhaustible stream that can always be accessed, so long as we place our trust in Jesus.
Faustina found a painter to fulfill the request Jesus had made to her in one of the visions to paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the signature: Jesus, I trust in You and in 1934 the painter Eugene Kazimierowski created the original Divine Mercy painting under St. Faustinas direction.
Jezu Ufam Tobie meaning Jesus, I trust in you, in Polish.
