Other than the restaurant of the bird observatory, and its small evening-only bar, there are no pubs or restaurants on the island.
Established in 1948 as research base for studying migration and the seabird colonies of Fair Isle. Sadly, the Observatory burned down in 2019 but will be reopening from Monday, 12th May 2025. You can keep up to date with project on the Fair Isle Bird Observatory website.
