You can get tattooed at Tattoo Conventions, however, it is generally more expensive than if you just book with the artist for after the show.
Tattoo conventions are events that allow hundreds of artists, collectors and spectators to participate in two to three days of live tattooing in a single weekend. Tattoo conventions occur throughout the world and many of your favorite artists attend specific conventions every single year.
Bring cash with you. It goes faster at vendors and is nice for artists. There will be ATMS, but they will have their own fee and most likely a bank fee as well, and they will run out of cash(even as early as Saturday morning). Also waiting in a long ATM line will mean less time to enjoy the convention.
Still, theres a lingering misconception among some first-timers or onlookersthat getting tattooed at a convention is somehow free. That assumption couldnt be further from the truth, and more importantly, it misses the point of why tattoo conventions matter to both artists and clients.
Conventions are great because there are artists from all over, and you can even identify one for the next convention if youre not ready. Artists also sometimes will sell their prints or other merchandise too. Its a very chill environment and fun!

You still pay for your tattoo as you would at a studio. If anything youll get better deals at the studio then you would at the tattoo convention (for me personally) Tattoo artists pay sometimes up to $1200 for the weekend, plus hotel, flights, food etc. so we can not do free tattoos on people.
Attending tattoo events not only fosters personal and professional growth but also inspires artists to constantly evolve their craft. The camaraderie and shared passion among attendees create an atmosphere of creativity, inspiration, and mutual support.
