Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is required for all Texas educators holding a standard certificate. The appropriate number of clock-hours of continuing professional education (CPE) must be completed during each five-year renewal period (19 TAC 232.11). Classroom teachers must complete 150 CPE hours.
TBPG Rule 851.32 (c): Every P.G. licensee is required to obtain 15 continuing education hours (PDH units) during a standard renewal period year (one year). The continuing education requirement for a license that is renewed for a period less than one year per 851.28(b) of this chapter shall be prorated.
Most licenses require 24 hours of continuing education every two years. Some license types require specific topics to be included. Three hours must be ethics-related. At least half of the hours must take place in a classroom or classroom equivalent.
CE Requirements for the State of Texas All TBAE registrants must complete at least 12 CE program hours per calendar year. All 12 hours must include the study of subjects related to your profession and be pertinent to the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
License holders must meet Continuing Education (CE) requirements during each two- year license period. CE must include 4 hours of Legal Update I, 4 hours of Legal Update II, 3 hours of Contract-Related coursework, and 7 hours of elective CE courses for a total of 18 hours.
