This form is utilized to verify and confirm the accuracy of the financial and demographic information submitted by students on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Ensuring precise data on the FAFSA is essential as it directly impacts the financial aid package a student may receive. How to Use FORM TYPE: VWD

  1. Fill Out the Necessary Sections: Begin by carefully reviewing each section of the form. The VWD form typically requires information about the student’s and parents' household size, number of family members attending post-secondary education, and other financial data.
  2. Attach Required Documents: Ensure all necessary documentation, such as IRS tax return transcripts for both students and parents, are attached. These documents substantiate the accuracy of the details provided on the VWD.
  3. Review for Accuracy: Before submission, double-check the form for any discrepancies or missing information. Accurate completion is crucial to avoid delays in the financial aid process.

There are three main types of von Willebrand disease. The amount of bleeding varies from one person to another, depending on the type of the condition and how bad it is. If you have von Willebrand disease, you might have: Bleeding for a long time from an injury or after surgery or dental work.
Diagnosis is straightforward and is based on the absence of detectable VWF measured by all available methods (including functional and immunologic assays and agarose gel electrophoresis), accompanied by a secondary FVIII deficiency with a decrease to between 1 and 10% of normal levels.
Type 1: This is the most common type of von Willebrand disease. It affects 60% to 80% of people with the disease. People with this type have low levels of von Willebrand factor in their blood. They may not have symptoms.
VWD 2B differs from 2A by normal VWF in platelets, and increased ristocetine-induced platelet aggregation (RIPA). RIPA, which very likely reflects the VWF content of platelets, is normal in mild, decreased in moderate, and absent in severe type 2A VWD.
Type 2. With this type of VWD, although the body makes normal amounts of the VWF, the factor does not work the way it should. Type 2 is further broken down into four subtypes―2A, 2B, 2M, and 2N―depending on the specific problem with the persons VWF.
