The ACFI contains three domains: activities of daily living, behavioural needs, and complex health care. The residents are classified to their level of need in each domain no need, low, medium or high.
The Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) is used for establishing and validating nursing care provided to residents. The amount of subsidy paid is based on the assessments of the residents ongoing care needs.
The ACFI is a tool used to assess and provide basic information on a persons needs in permanent residential care. Questions are asked across the three areas of care (known as care domains). The ratingshigh, medium, low or nilare used to allocate government funds to the residents facility.
