Reading fluency is calculated by taking the total number of words read in one minute and subtracting the number of errors. Only count one error per word. This gives you the words correct per minute (wpm). The words correct per minute represent students fluency levels.
What is TPRI assessment?
The Texas Primary Reading Instrument (TPRI) is a reading assessment for use in kindergarten through third grade. The TPRI is given by the classroom teacher to each student in the class. It consists of a Screening Section and an Inventory Section.
How do you read a TPRI score?
TPRI uses two different scores to describe a students level of skill/need with assessed concepts. A score of Developed (D) indicates the student has been successful with the task. A score of Still Developing (SD) indicates the student is not currently proficient in the skill or concept assessed.
How do you read achievement test scores?
For example, a student with a percentile score of 73 means that the student did better than approximately 73% of the students in the norm group. Percentile scores do not represent the number of questions answered correctly. Percentiles are useful for comparing a students performance over several sections of the test.
