Angel Tree was created by The Salvation Army in 1979 by Majors Charles and Shirley White when they worked with a Lynchburg, Virginia shopping mall to provide clothing and toys for children at Christmas time.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree program helps provide Christmas gifts for hundreds of thousands of children around the country each year. Once a child or senior adult has been registered and accepted as an Angel their Christmas wish list is shared with donors in your community who purchase gifts of new clothing and toys.
We recommend spending between $10-$25 per angel. Some suggestions are: 0-2: toddler and infant learning toys, interactive plush stuffed animals, board books, baby walkers, and blocks. 3-5: dinosaur/farm animal toys, baby dolls, play food, toddler trucks, and sensory toys.
Recognizing that every child deserves to feel the joy of Christmas, The Salvation Army Angel Tree program provides new clothing and toys to more than one-million children in need each year. Once a child is accepted as an Angel, donors like you can shop for their Christmas wish list.
If you and your organization, church, business or club would like to sponsor an Angel Tree in your community, please contact your local Salvation Army offices. Information about The Salvation Army and contact information for local offices are available at .
