Every student is encouraged to read the WCSU comprehensive, campus-wide alcohol policy. The manufacturing of alcoholic beverages is prohibited. Students of legal drinking age may not have alcohol in their room/apartment at any time if any of the students residing in the room/apartment are under the legal drinking age.
Central and Eastern Connecticut State Universities (CCSU and ECSU) ban alcohol anywhere in a residence facility. Southern, Western (SCSU and WCSU), and UConn permit students age 21 and above to drink in their rooms but prohibit alcohol possession or consumption anywhere else in the residence hall.
All majors require a minimum of 120 credits.
University policy prohibits possession, consumption or distribution of hallucinatory narcotic or other illegal drugs possession, consumption or distribution of alcoholic beverages on campus, including athletic events.
Open alcoholic beverage containers are prohibited in all outdoor and indoor areas of the campus except as provided below. Bringing alcoholic beverages to any event is prohibited. Residence hall students who are 21 or over may consume alcoholic beverages in their living areas.

All alcohol on university property must be procured and served through arrangements with University Dining Services. University P-Cards may NOT be used for alcohol purchases. State dollars may not be used to pay for alcohol.

Under the General Admission guidelines, students must have at least a 2.67 GPA or B- average and have a combined critical reading and mathematics SAT score of 1000. Students applying under General Admission are free to apply for any major at WCSU.
