Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a form of off-campus work authorization that allows F-1 international students to participate in paid or unpaid work experience that is an integral part of the established curriculum or directly related to their major area of study.
Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is an F-1 visa benefit that allows students to participate in off campus internship, work, clinical placement or other experiential learning that is part of your academic program and directly related to your academic major. CPT must be authorized for both paid and unpaid experiences.
Can I request CPT if my GPA is below the requirement (3.0 for Graduate Students, 2.5 for Undergraduate Students)? No.
CPT eligiblity requires that F-1 students: Be in valid F-1 immigration status for at least two full-time semesters (1 academic year) before becoming eligible for CPT. Enroll for Internship/Field Study/Practicum Course Credit OR be completing a Degree Requirement.
