Bylaw 17: Playing and Practice Seasons 2. A student-athletes participation in countable athletically related activities shall be limited to a maximum of four hours per day and 20 hours per week during the playing season (Bylaw 17.1. 6.1).
During the playing season student-athletes are limited in the amount of CARA in which they may participate. Each student-athlete may participate in a maximum of four (4) CARA hours a day and twenty (20) CARA hours in a week (7-day period designated by the coaching staff of a particular sport).
Based on a 4.0 scale, Division II student-athletes must earn a 1.8 GPA after 24 semester or 36 quarter hours, a 1.9 GPA after 48 semester or 72 quarter hours and a 2.0 GPA after both 72 semester or 108 quarter hours and 96 semester or 144 quarter hours.
Maintain satisfactory progress toward a degree. Student-athletes must complete 40%, 60%, and 80% of degree requirements by the beginning of their third, fourth, and fifth years, respectively, of full-time enrollment. Satisfactory progress rules are first applied at the completion of two years of full-time enrollment.
In Season (20 Hours) During the in-season period (i.e., championship and nonchampionship segments), a student- athlete may participate in a maximum of 20 hours per week of countable athletically related activities.
