UT policy requires that faculty, staff, students, and visitors submit a TAR prior to a business trip and that the RTA be approved by UT prior to your starting your trip. A 30 day minimum is required for foreign travel. Travel Authorization Requests should be completed online using the Travel Authorization Request form.
Students may take a maximum of 17 credit hours in one semester. If a student wishes to carry more than 17 hours, approval is required. You can email your assigned academic advisor for assistance with this. During summer a student can take up to 14 hours with no more than 8 hours in either summer session.
The auto admit policy at UT Austin guarantees automatic admission to Texas high school students who graduate in the top percentile of their classhistorically, the top 6%. Under the new policy starting with the fall 2026 admissions cycle, only students in the top 5% will be automatically admitted.
