Is UT Austin orientation mandatory?
Spring Orientation is required for incoming freshman and transfer students admitted to The University of Texas at Austin for the spring term. Registration for 2026 Spring Orientation will open in Fall 2025.
Do parents go to UT orientation?
Are parents and families required to attend the same orientation session date as their student? While we recommend that parents and families attend the Family Orientation session that corresponds with their students orientation session, it is not required.

Its completely normal for parents to attend. What they do is separate the students and parentsyour child will go through her orientation while the parents attend a separate session.
