Skills Checklists are modules designed to push skill improvement by identifying gaps in knowledge and demonstrated clinical skills.
Knowing how to interact with and treat them respectfully is vital to the CNA job. This requires good interpersonal skills which allow you to connect with your patients and make them feel more at ease. Additional interpersonal skills include conflict resolution, compassion, empathy, and adaptability.
Most CNAs whove failed the performance test the first time have forgotten to wash their hands before or after touching their patient. Ensure that you perform handwashing immediately after you greet your patient, once gloves are removed and before you leave the room. When in doubt, wash your hands.
These skills include: ambulation, feeding, hand nail care, measure and record respirations, pulse, blood pressure and transfers. For testing purposes, the candidate may choose to provide privacy or not for these skills only. Safety must be evaluated for each individual skill performed.
Becoming a skilled nursing assistant goes beyond mastering medical procedures; it involves developing a well-rounded skill set that encompasses compassion, communication, attention to detail, patience, flexibility, teamwork, problem-solving, physical fitness, and emotional resilience.
