Form 2290 must be filed for each month a taxable vehicle is first used on public highways during the current period July 1 June 30. The Form 2290 must be filed by the last day of the month following the month of first use.

If The gross taxable weight is from 55,000, the HVUT is $100, plus $22 per 1,000 pounds over 55,000 pounds. For over 75,000-pound vehicles, the maximum HVUT is $550 per year.
