Form N-11 is the official tax return used by residents of Hawaii (HI) to file their individual income taxes for the calendar year 2023. It is submitted to the Hawaii Department of Taxation (DOTAX).
A Hawaii Resident is an individual that is domiciled in Hawaii or an individual that resides in Hawaii for other than temporary purpose. An individual domiciled outside Hawaii is considered a Hawaii resident if they spend more than 200 days in Hawaii during the tax year.
Any person who is in Hawaiʻi for a temporary or transient purpose and whose permanent residence is not Hawaiʻi is considered a Hawaiʻi nonresident. Each year, a nonresident who earns income from Hawaiʻi sources must file a State of Hawaiʻi tax return and will be taxed only on income from Hawaiʻi sources.
Full-year residents use Hawaii Form N-11 to file their state individual income tax return. The purpose of Form N-11 is to calculate how much Hawaii income tax you owe for the year. If you are a part-year resident or nonresident, you must file Hawaii Form N-15 instead of Form N-11.
If you make $75,000 a year living in the region of Hawaii, USA, you will be taxed $20,665. That means that your net pay will be $54,336 per year, or $4,528 per month. Your average tax rate is 27.6% and your marginal tax rate is 37.6%.
