Created in 2003, the UTMB is the most mythical and prestigious trail running race in the world with 171 kilometers and 10,000 meters of positive elevation gain around the Mont-Blanc through Italy, Switzerland and France.
You earn a valid UTMB index by completing any UTMB World Series race within the last 24 months. Once you check that box, all of your UTMB World Series race results from the past 36 months are factored together to determine your UTMB Index.
Description UTMB: Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (171 km +10,040 m) CCC: Courmayeur - Champex - Chamonix (101 km +6,100 m) TDS: Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie (145 km +9,100 m) OCC: Orsires - Champex - Chamonix (56 km +3,460 m) PTL: La Petite Trotte Lon (approx. MCC: De Martigny-Combe Chamonix (40 km +2,300 m)
For safety reasons, runners must prove their experience before registering for the following races: UTMB: UTMB index valid in categories 100K or 100M. CCC: UTMB index valid in categories 50K, 100K or 100M. OCC: UTMB index valid in categories 20K, 50K, 100K or 100M.
Index scores are offered for all UTMB World Series, OR UTMB Index Events (basically events run by other organisations who have gained UTMB index certification, of which there are 1000s). For the OCC you need a minimum of a 20K index, for the CCC a minimum of a 50K index, and for the UTMB a minimum of a 100K index.
